NEW SHORT DOCUMENTARY TRACES THE PATH OF THE OLD CEREMONY
What holds a band together for decades without a financial incentive? This is the premise of Till My Voice is Gone, a new short documentary initially conceived in spring 2024 as a way to celebrate The Old Ceremony's 20th year together. Originally envisioned as a 6-10-minute piece that would have just a few key clips, it quickly became clear that full context of the band's history and trajectory would require more voices in the video than even 10 minutes would allow.
Local filmmaker Wil Weldon began collecting interviews with band members and other people who had contributed to success in the early years. As the narrative of the early years started to take shape, more voices were added and piles of archival material were pored over. The resulting short documentary is now close to 40 minutes long and gives an honest assessment of a band that has transformed itself, grown, shrunk, found new energy and collaborators, and has made a lasting impression on the evolving music scene of the Triangle.
The Chapel Hill premiere sold out, and now the film will be screened at the Rialto Theater in Raleigh Saturday November 7th, followed by a live performance by The Old Ceremony right there in the theater. Tickets are available now here:
