Artist Notes Opener Contest
Official Rules
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCE OF WINNING. OPEN TO PERMANENT U.S. RESIDENTS WHO ARE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD AND MEET THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS BELOW. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW. ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL REGULATIONS APPLY.
1. HOW TO ENTER. Solo artists and/or bands may enter by visiting thatstation.net and submitting an audio clip of one original song that they own the full copyright to, between 12:00AM ET on Monday, May 11th, 2026, and 11:59PM ET on Wednesday, May 20th, 2026 (the “Promotion Period”). You may only make one (1) entry during the Promotion Period. Any additional entries received from the same artist, band, or email address or by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations and logins or any other methods will void that entrant’s entries and that entrant may be disqualified. Submissions must be the entrant’s own original work. Entrants must own all rights to the music, lyrics, recording and any included content. Entrants must be the registered subscriber of the email account indicated on the entry that is made. Entries that are incomplete, illegible, lost, misdirected, truncated, corrupted, late for any reason, or generated by a script, macro or other robotic, repetitive, programmed or automated means will not be eligible. Entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.
2. SPONSOR. The sponsor of this contest is WRAL HD2, Inc., d/b/a That Station, NC State University, Lincoln Theatre, and Capitol Broadcasting Company (“Sponsor”). This contest is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Apple, Instagram, Meta, or Facebook. By entering you completely release Instagram, Meta, and Facebook from any and all liability as provided further in these Official Rules. The information entrants provide will only be used by the Station for administration of the contest and as otherwise set forth in these Official Rules. Any questions that entrants have about this contest must be directed to the Sponsor and not to Instagram, Meta, or Facebook.
3. ELIGIBILITY. The contest is open only to permanent U.S. residents 18 years of age as of Monday, May 11th, 2026, and who reside in WRAL-HD2 Total Service Area as defined by Nielsen Audio. Employees of Sponsor and its respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, agents, employees, advertising and promotion agencies and members of their immediate families (spouses, parents, children, and siblings and their spouses) are not eligible. By entering this contest, you acknowledge and agree (a) to all of these Official Rules, and (b) to be bound by all decisions of Sponsor, whose decisions are exclusive, binding and final.
4. PRIZE(S) AND ODDS. We will have four (4) winners in total. Each winner will receive two hundred dollars and the opportunity to perform as an opening act at one (1) upcoming Artist Notes event, scheduled for one of the following dates: June 12, July 10, July 24, or August 7 (date to be determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion). $200 total ARV per winner. Eligible entries will be made available for public voting on thatstation.net from May 22nd, 2026, through May 31st, 2026 (“Voting Period”). Voting results may be considered as part of the selection process; however, final winner determination will be made by That Station in its sole discretion from all eligible entries received during the Promotion Period. Selection will take place on Monday, June 1st, 2026. Winner(s) must be available to perform on the assigned Artist Notes event date in order to receive the prize. The winner will be notified by email or telephone using the contact information provided on the contest entry form and will be instructed how to claim the prize. The prize is non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash or otherwise, and no substitution will be made except as provided herein at the Sponsor’s sole discretion. The number of eligible entries received during the Promotion Period will determine the odds of winning the prize. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute the prize for one of equal or greater value if the designated prize should become unavailable for any reason. Prizes consist of only those items specifically listed as part of the prize; winner bears sole and full responsibility for all other costs, fees and other liabilities, even if necessarily incurred in collecting or redeeming prize, including any required tax payments and reporting. Winner must sign and return to Sponsor a prize acknowledgment and publicity and liability release, as well as IRS form W-9: Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification for any prize over $2,000.00 in total value. If any prize notification is undeliverable, or in the event of non-compliance with any of these requirements, the prize will be forfeited, and an alternate winner may be selected at random from the remaining eligible entries. Any alternate winners are subject to all eligibility requirements and restrictions of these Official Rules.
5. RELEASE. By entering this contest, entrant agrees to release and hold harmless Sponsor, its prize suppliers, affiliates, subsidiaries, and each of such company’s officers, directors, employees, and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in this contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize. By checking the relevant box or selection on the entry form, entrant agrees that Sponsor may contact them via email with information, special content or features. An entrant may discontinue receiving such materials at any time by using the unsubscribe procedures contained in the email message.
6. PUBLICITY. Except where prohibited, participation in this contest constitutes a winner’s irrevocable and unconditional consent to Sponsor’s or its parents’ or subsidiaries’ and agents’ use of winner’s name, likeness, photograph, voice, opinions and/or hometown and state for promotional purposes in any media, worldwide, without further payment or consideration.
7. GENERAL CONDITIONS. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or any other promotion or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Sponsor reserves the right to change the Official Rules at any time to ensure the fair administration of the contest and compliance with applicable laws. Sponsor shall be entitled to interpret these Official Rules in its sole discretion—including but not limited to rules regarding entries, deadlines, winner selection, prize restrictions and eligibility—and all of Sponsor’s decisions are final. By entering, each entrant irrevocably, fully and unconditionally agrees to be bound by these Official Rules and the Sponsor’s interpretations thereof and waives any right to claim ambiguity in these Official Rules or any other contest-related advertising or materials. In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between any terms or conditions of these Official Rules and any disclosures or other statements contained in any other contest related materials, including but not limited to the contest entry forms, or point of sale, television, radio, print, mobile, or online advertising, the terms and conditions of these Official Rules shall prevail, govern, and control.
